A group of 18 London based organisations, led by Evolve, which share the common aim of employing people with ‘lived experience’ in the homelessness and care sectors.
Customer Employment Partnership (CEP) started in 2009 as a six month pilot project in which 35 current or ex-customers were successful in finding paid jobs in the homelessness and care sectors. There is a dedicated website listing jobs available within all partner organisations and jobs are generally entry level posts, designed to empower people to take the first step in their career in the sector. CEP also provides advice and support around employment, as well as signposting to other opportunities including traineeships, apprenticeships, and volunteering.
We are passionate about taking positive action to enable us to employ more people who have used homelessness services because we believe they will improve service delivery and enhance our credibility.
The London Housing Foundation currently funds a part-time coordinator role to oversee the partnership which includes 18 organisations working across London: Evolve Housing + Support, St Mungo’s Broadway, Centrepoint, Clean Slate, Crisis, Homeless Link, Look Ahead Care and Support, The Passage, Providence Row Housing Association, Riverside South East Region, Thames Reach, The Connection @ St Martin, Groundswell, Lift, North London YMCA, West London YMCA, Porchlight, and St Giles Trust.

Having experienced support work at Evolve, I realised that I had the tools to be a Support Worker. I was encouraged to apply for the Apprenticeship Programme, and it was a great way for me to develop my skills and to harness the self confidence I always knew I had. It is so rewarding to see the positive change in customers and I believe my experience of homelessness enriches the work I do with them.
