Volunteering is crucial to our charity work in the homeless community helping towards improving the life chances of people with experience of homelessness. We believe that everyone has abilities and talents that can contribute to society, and volunteers empower our customers to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. As a volunteer you can support customers to achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities. All this contributes to our work + learning programme aims.
Our main work is to provide supported housing for around 700 homeless people of all ages in the London Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We also offer central, mentoring, and counselling services that you can get involved in within these locations as part of our homeless assistance.
Alongside contributing to our work and supporting a worthwhile cause, there are many benefits to the charity volunteer work at Evolve. We are determined to offer the right role for you, whether that is facilitating an activity or sharing skills. Volunteer development opportunities are also important to us, whether that includes increasing confidence, gaining new experiences, meeting new people, developing skills, or moving into employment.
Our existing volunteers include nutritionists, receptionists, counsellors, mentors, education professionals, arts and crafts enthusiasts, and more. We provide training and on-going support for all volunteers, and reimburse reasonable travel and lunch expenses. Once you have been with us consistently for three months, you also have the opportunity to access our core training programme.
We are looking for people who are passionate, creative, and optimistic. Our organisation values inclusion and we embrace volunteers, including our customers and members of the community, from a range of backgrounds and experiences to reflect the diversity of our charity. For more information about other customer volunteering opportunities, see the customer involvement page.
