Thank you for your donations and support...

.

During the peak of Covid-19, we issued an emergency appeal, asking for your support.

6 weeks after the 16 March, Coronavirus was costing our homelessness services £41,000 a fortnight. Although we were doing everything in our power to keep people protected and safe, and our vital homelessness accommodation services opened, we needed your help.

Since then, over 230 people have donated directly to our appeal. New fundraisers set up their own appeals, taking on various challenges, including James and Matt who ran an incredible 7 half marathons in 7 days, raising over £4000.

You can still donate to support a homeless person

When we began to recognise the impact of the pandemic on the people we support, we worked with spoken word artist Louise Dalton who wrote and recorded a beautiful piece which we shared across our social media channels.

We also received donations from M&S/Neighbourly, LandAid Covid-19 Emergency Fund, London Community Response Fund, the Government’s Charity Relief Fund, and  London Hostels Association, all of whom played a massive role in ensuring that we were able to keep vulnerable people fed, healthy and connected, during a time of extreme isolation.

 Food donations for services

One of the early challenges we faced was the struggle our homeless residents had accessing food.

While supermarkets limited the number of products one person could purchase, some of our regular food donations reduced or stopped completely as businesses closed.

This all had an impact on our homeless residents who were self-isolating, relied on others to shop on their behalf, or could not afford more expensive food options when cheaper alternatives were not available.

Thanks to local supporters and businesses with the ability to donate food, we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the public and communities where we work, who helped to keep our customers fed. We also received donations of PPE, something else that was in short supply at the peak of the pandemic, keeping our staff and customers safe.

We couldn’t be more grateful for your donations. At a time of global crisis, it was incredible to see our communities pull together and help some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Thank you again. Take care.
