Volunteer Impact: Creating Spaces Where Residents Can Thrive
At Evolve Housing + Support, we know that creating a positive home is about more than providing safe accommodation. The spaces around our residents can play an important role in supporting wellbeing, connection, confidence and a sense of belonging.
That’s why we’re incredibly grateful to the volunteers who give their time, skills and energy to help us improve and expand the spaces available to our residents.
Recently, we welcomed fantastic volunteers from Zurich Insurance and Network Rail for a series of volunteering days across our services.
The Zurich Insurance team transformed the front garden at Alex’s House, creating a beautiful and welcoming space where residents can relax, spend time outdoors and enjoy their surroundings.
We were also delighted to welcome Network Rail volunteers for two impactful days. One team helped renovate the garden at Fitze Millennium Centre, while another worked hard to improve the playground at our Stockwell service, creating a more welcoming and enjoyable space for children.
Making more space for wellbeing
These projects demonstrate the real value of volunteering at Evolve. By helping us maintain and develop our gardens, playgrounds and communal outdoor areas, volunteers enable us to create more opportunities for residents to connect, relax, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.
For some residents, having access to a safe and welcoming outdoor space can provide an important opportunity to step away from the pressures of everyday life. Gardens can become places to socialise with others, enjoy nature, take part in activities or simply have some quiet time.
Volunteers also bring something incredibly valuable to Evolve: their time, skills and fresh ideas. Their contribution allows us to take on projects that can make a significant difference to our services and creates a sense of shared ownership within our communities.
Most importantly, volunteering is about working with our residents to create spaces that feel welcoming, accessible and meaningful to them.
