It’s refugee week and this year’s theme is “Community as a Superpower.” It’s a celebration of the incredible strength we find when we come together, highlighting how ordinary acts of kindness and connection can make a real difference in the lives of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. This week is all about recognising the resilience, creativity, and contributions of refugees, and showing that everyone has a part to play in building welcoming, supportive communities.
There are so many ways you can get involved no matter how much time you have or what your interests are. You might choose to take a quick action each day, like signing a petition or sharing information online. If you want to connect more deeply, you could join local or online events, read and share stories, or talk with friends and neighbours about what you’re learning.
No act is too small, and every effort helps to create a sense of belonging and support for those who have been forced to rebuild their lives far from home. By joining in, you’re helping to show that community really is a superpower and that together, we can make our neighbourhoods places where everyone feels welcome.
