More than a roof: Our 2023 winter appeal starts today
Today marks the start of our 2023 winter appeal. We are calling for the public’s support to help us keep delivering community projects that tackle isolation and loneliness.
We all know how it feels to be isolated. When you are going through homelessness this feeling can be particularly acute. The experience can cut you off from friends and family, and make you feel like you are doing it alone.
It can take much more than just a roof to move on from these feelings, and that is where we come in. As well as providing accommodation, we run projects that enable people to build new relationships and strengthen old ones.
- We offer counselling, so people have a space to talk.
- We run breakfast and lunch clubs that give people a chance to meet each other.
- We run workshops that enable people with similar interests to come together.
- We provide one-to-one sessions to prescribe activities that will help people to make connections, and thrive.
However, none of this work happens without the support of people and businesses in our local communities. That is why we are calling for donations this winter.
Rough sleeping is on the rise. The cost of living remains high. Affordable housing is in short supply. We must ensure that we can support anybody who finds themselves homeless. It is only through being there for each individual, providing what they need and helping them maintain the relationships they need to thrive, that we can stop homelessness.
