Move53 raises over £6000 to help people move into new homes and new lives

After two months of running, walking, knitting, baking, crafting and litter-picking, our Move53 campaign has now come to an end for another year.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the fact that 1 in 53 Londoners were homeless in 2021. It encouraged people to take on a challenge related to the number 53 to mark this fact, and raise vital funds for our work helping people to leave homelessness behind for good.

In total, it generated over £6000. We would like to thank everybody who took on a challenge and fundraised for us. Amongst many brilliant efforts, highlights included a 53 mile walk from our partners Fidelity energy, a craft and cake event held by Life City Church, and our Deputy Director of Operations Pamela picking up 53 bags of litter in just one month!

Thank you also to everybody who donated, and who shared information about the campaign to help spread the word. We have been thrilled by the enthusiasm and passion of both our existing community, and those who heard of us through Move53.

All funds raised over the last two months will go towards our work helping people to move on from Evolve into new homes and new lives. The costs associated with moving house, and indeed finding a new home in the first place, are significant. In fact, they can make moving incredibly difficult, even for people who have been with Evolve for some time and are ready to leave. Donations to Move53 will help with this – they will help cover costs like moving vans and allow people to secure the basics they need when they move to a new place.

Our thanks again to everybody who has been involved since the start of July. It means a lot to us, and we hope to run a similar campaign again – hopefully with a more positive statistic at its heart – at some point in the future.
