Evolve welcomes Paul Perkin as new Chair

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Perkin, Chief Executive of the British Home & Hospital, as the new Chair of our Board of Trustees. Upon his appointment, Paul said:

“I am delighted to be taking up the role of Chair of Evolve Housing + Support. During my time on the Board I have been continually impressed and humbled by the compassion and unwavering commitment of everyone within this incredible organisation. Amongst Evolve’s many strengths are its agility and continuous innovation in supporting homeless people to overcome the barriers they face, while working collaboratively with customers to fulfil their potential and to make a positive contribution to their communities.

The pandemic has demonstrated that the work Evolve does is needed more than ever, as the most marginalised in our society continue to be disproportionately affected by this terrible virus. It is during difficult times like these, that the values and purpose of charities such as Evolve are really put to the test, and I’m proud to see that these remain as strong as ever. The Board and Executive have ambitious plans to grow the breadth and scope of our services, to make an even greater impact towards reducing homelessness. I look forward to working with everyone at Evolve to deliver on our ambition and to ensure that even more people are able to move on and lead full and independent lives.”

The new Vice Chair of our Board of Trustees is Paul Infield, a barrister who has worked in the voluntary sector all of his adult life.  He has volunteered for the Samaritans, been a chairman of his synagogue, chairman of the Board of Visitors of HM Prison Wandsworth and most recently a trustee and then chairman of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

We are deeply indebted to our former Chair, Karen Cooper, who has now stepped down at the end of her six year term of office. Karen provided inspirational leadership to the Board in her time as Chair, for which we are extremely grateful. Her passion for and commitment to our customers shone through at every Board meeting, and in every discussion she always put customers at the heart of our work.  On behalf of our customers, staff and board members, we would like to thank her for giving her time, energy and   dedication to the organisation since her appointment in 2014, and we wish her every success in the future.
