Actress and Director Kate Hardie confirms Amabassador role

We’re delighted to welcome actress, writer and director Kate Hardie as an Ambassador. Twenty five years ago Kate appeared in the seminal film ‘Safe’, which followed the lives of young people living on the streets of London and won prestigious awards, including a BAFTA for Best Single Drama. Earlier this year, Kate visited our young people’s service in Stockwell to get a feel for our work and the challenges young homeless people face today. Kate said:

“I met with some incredible humans providing a life changing services to those in need of housing and support. Having a home is a human right and not a privilege and yet sadly the figures for those in the UK without a safe place to live are yet again rising. I look forward to working with Evolve to get the message out about the integral work the charity does for those experiencing homelessness across London. Evolve is a vital service.”

Kate recently supported the launch of our research – Through My Eyes: Perceptions of Homelessness – by writing for The Guardian about the changes in homelessness since she appeared in ‘Safe’. You can read her article here: The Guardian.
