Colliers Wood Chorus and Going for a Song support Evolve Housing + Support with ‘Another round of Christmas Crackers.’
The community choir will be joined by members of the ‘Going for a Song’ singing group in their annual Christmas Concert on Sunday 17 December, at Christ Church, Colliers Wood.
With over 250 people expected to attend, a programme of festive favourites is planned along with some more unusual Christmas pieces from Tudor and Victorian carols to David Bowie, Eric Clapton and George Michael. It is a festive extravaganza that will be sure to put you in the Christmas spirit while helping to raise funds for the Evolve Christmas Campaign.
Evolve Housing + Support is a leading homelessness charity in London which helps 700 people each day. In Merton, they have programmes that are particularly focussed on young homeless people between the ages of 16-21 including a Young Parents’ Service and a Care Leaver’s service. In Merton alone Evolve supports over 100 homeless young people.
The charity’s main focus is to provide support to homeless people enabling them to live independent lives. Their Christmas campaign aims to raise £20,000 in a drive to support as many homeless people as possible over the coming year.
Laura Mcellan, Head of Fundraising, Evolve Housing + Support said:
“This year’s campaign focuses on granting wishes to our homeless community. Our fundraising activities and those of our local community groups will help provide shelter, support and advice for homeless people in London, giving them the opportunity to build confidence and work towards becoming independent. The Christmas Concert at Colliers Wood is a perfect example of how people can come together to help others, and in the process, enjoy themselves and spread a little festive cheer.”
Chris Killerby, Head of Colliers Chorus added:
“If you’re still feeling a bit Bah-humbug about how quickly Christmas has crept up on us then rest assured; when Colliers Wood Chorus and Going For A Song come together, there will always be a good time had by all. We don’t do stuffy, formal Christmas concerts – I expect to be toe-tapping/singing along in no time at all! Sure to un-Scrooge even the Grinchiest among you. Being Merton based, we are also delighted to help raise funds and awareness for Evolve Housing+Support who do so much work for young homeless people in the area – we hope to raise lots of money for their Christmas Appeal.”
