Meet one of our newest Trainee Support Workers, Asha, and read about how she came to work for us.
‘My name is Asha, and I am a Trainee Support Worker for Evolve, currently based at Alexandra House. I am also two years into a psychology degree at university. It is sometimes a challenge balancing my studies whilst working, but I truly love my job, so it’s more of a vocation!
My role as a Trainee Support Worker, involves empowering our customers to ensure that each person is able to identify their strengths and skills, and achieve their goals and aspirations.
Working at Alexandra House has opened a huge door for me by giving me the opportunity to empower customers in their journeys towards independent living. I definitely take pride in helping customers to see their own potential and take steps towards achieving their life goals.
One of the main reasons I love working for Evolve is that they provides opportunities for their customers to become employees, so that with the right training, and encouragement from staff, you can put your past behind you and achieve your goals.
It allows you to appreciate life and provides hope, passion and drive to help customers grow, and that makes my role very rewarding.
I have also learnt it does not matter where you come from, everyone has the chance to turn their life around.
My plans for the future include continuing to work for Evolve even after I have completed my degree. I would like to develop my career here and one day become a Team Manager. One of my dreams is to travel around the world, working with vulnerable children and adults who have had a difficult life to help them see hope.’
