On Thursday 4 February Evolve attended the BeyondMe Cohort Launch party at their offices in Aldgate in London.
Team members from corporate organisations such as Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, PWC and Ernest & Young were amongst the guests at the event along with the charities in this year’s Daniel Phelan cohort (named after the founder and editor-in-chief of Civil Society Media ltd in 1990.)
BeyondMe creates teams of passionate professionals who want to tackle the causes they care about. They match the skills of a BeyondMe team with the needs of a charity project to build a long-term partnership. The teams offer corporate volunteering, skills and money to their chosen cause.
We connected with a number of organisations who spoke enthusiastically about being part of this movement. They were eager to support charities in a really practical way in order to make a lasting difference. There was a real buzz in the room which lasted all evening and it was clear that both businesses and charities were benefitting from the event and the scheme as a whole.
Kawika Solidum, Chief Executive at BeyondMe gave an inspiring speech about the history of the charity and its impact to date, emphasising the importance of ‘empowering organisations to make connections.’
Evolve is really excited to be a part BeyondMe’s portfolio of charities and we aim to seek the support of a team to measure our impact in terms of social return on investment. This will help us achieve our objective of creating an Impact Report.
The skills that a corporate organisation can bring to a charity like Evolve are invaluable and we hope that we can continue to work in partnership with such companies. Whether this is through corporate volunteering, team away days or sponsorship, we encourage any ideas about how you can help homeless people in London.
