We believe in encouraging our customers to get involved during their time with us through activities, workshops, training or influencing how services are run.
Patrick, from our Bromley service, is a great example of what can happen when customers get involved. When he arrived, Patrick was inspired by the team’s dedication to supporting customers and responded with enthusiasm:
‘I saw that staff were passionate about making a difference and I wanted to be a part of that,’ he said.
Patrick has consistently sought to encourage his fellow customers to also get involved, working alongside staff to enable customers to manage their money and approaching local supermarkets, churches and food banks to help provide food for those who were struggling to make ends meet. He also got involved with cooking workshops and helped to secure wifi for customers to use at a central hub in the Bromley services, so that they could pay their rent online, manage their prescriptions and apply for jobs.
‘The highlight of living here for me is being listened to and in turn listening to others, when someone shows genuine interest and trust in you, it helps you grow in confidence and you want to give back.’
Patrick won a ‘Get involved’ award at our 2016 Customer Conference for his commitment to customer involvement activities. His aspirations for the future include working with us and continuing to encourage customers to engage with the support and activities that we offer.
‘Since coming to Evolve, I have seen both customers getting involved and through their engagement with staff, we have all been able to come together as a community and make a difference.’
