‘It’s a joy to be a part of such a motivated team!’

In September, our staff completed the Tough Mudder challenge at the Holmbush Estate to raise money for our charity. The Tough Mudder course is known for its gruelling obstacles, which include giant human hamster wheels, rotating barriers, barbed wire, icy water plunges and of course, masses of mud.

Donors could support the teams on a JustGiving page set up for the event, where the fundraisers posed as superheroes. The campaign received a lot of support, donations and encouraging messages, which were posted on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages.

Our staff members competed on two different occasions: Beacon House formed their own team and participated in the 5 mile course on Saturday 17 September.

Meanwhile, George Bageya from our Work + Learning team and Ovie Oboh from Ingram Court took part in the 10-12 mile course on Saturday 24 September.

‘The highlights for me were the atmosphere on the day, team-bonding and getting messy. I’d do it again!’ said Paul from Beacon House.

‘Everyone helped each other through the obstacles – it was really lovely to see,’ agreed Georgia, who was from the same team.

The JustGiving target for this fundraising event was £700, however, thanks to generous donations from friends, family and members of the public, we managed to raise a total of £1,698.46- a staggering 243% over the target!

Craig Bailey, who was the Team Manager at Beacon House, concluded,

‘I’m so grateful to everyone for fully committing to the fundraising side of the challenge, and raising a fantastic total, it’s a joy to be a part of such a motivated team!’
